The article is devoted to the study of the ideas of the outstanding Russian scientist V.I. Vernadsky that generate new civilizational ideas, goals and projects. The article considers the contribution of V.I. Vernadsky's ideas to the formation of a new generalized thinking that breaks the boundaries of individual disciplines and asserts the unity of all scientific knowledge. The author analyzes V.I. Vernadsky's holistic, systematic view of the biosphere as the shell of the Earth, in which the combined activity of living organisms manifests itself as a biogeochemical factor on a planetary scale. It shows the inseparability of man from the biosphere with all its consequences.
It is investigated how Vernadsky's idea of scientific thought as a planetary phenomenon led him to formulate the idea of the noosphere. Vernadsky's views on the noosphere and modern approaches to its interpretation from civilizational positions are considered.
